7 Ways to Build and Effective Email List! The success of your email comes down to a few key factors. The success of your email comes down to a few key factors. One of the most important is your email list. Here are a number of techniques you can use to build your opt-ins. 1. Ask for it. When speaking to your customers directly or through some
form of communication, ask for their email address. This may seem obvious,
but many companies do not have an email address for many of their own
customers because they never ask. 2. When a prospect or customer send an email inquiry, add their name to your list. According to CAN-SPAM legislature, if someone offers you their email address, you have the right to email them once. Make your first communication to them productive by offering to add them to your email list – offer an incentive. 3. Provide incentives for email addresses. Offer up free incentives in exchange for a prospect or customer email. Promotional items, access to whitepapers or newsletters are great ways to have someone provide you with their email address. 4. Refer a friend program. The best way to increase your sales and build your email list is by asking customers to have others inquire with your company. Customers are known to share your information with others if they’ve had a good experience and if there’s something in it for them. Provide your primary customer with a coupon or incentive in exchange for inviting others to give you their email contact information. 5. Use your website effectively. Do you offer opportunities to “opt-in” throughout your website? Take a careful look at your pages and make sure that prospects have ample opportunity to opt-in and reason to do so. 6. Ask prospects to register before receiving information. If you offer premium content on your site, only make it available to those who register. This increases the perceived value of your content and builds your list. 7. Provide incentives to your employees. Offer anyone in your company $1 for each valid email they add to a customer record. This can make your organization focused on collecting important information from your clients – like their email address!
